Default Orignial T-Maxx won't run in reverse

I have an original 20+year-old T-Maxx that had a gas engine, and I bought a conversion to electric. That's been about 8 years or so from a guy I don't remember his name. I did the retrofit, and it ran extremely well. I parked for about 5 years. So now I bought new 3cell Lipo batterie sand charged them. The truck runs great forward, but not in reverse. The handheld steering controller has a red switch that changes forward or reverse. The throttle is pulled back to run the truck; pushing it forward applies the brakes to stop. The truck will not run backwards. It ran great before parking it.
I need to find out why the red switch isn't giving me reverse.
Thanks for the help
Danny

The 3rd channel for reverse wouldn’t be used with an electric conversion AFAIK. That would be a function of the speed control unless the nitro transmission was left as it was from being setup as a nitro. Usually there are parts changed in the transmission to lock the transmission to work in forward or reverse.
